Each of us is the essential person embodying the divine spark. But based on our experience of a separate physical body and our social identity, we each tend to have a sense of notional separation from the ultimate oneness of absolute being - the Universe. Once this is realised, the perceived separate individuality is seen to be an illusion and, in reality, of a piece with the whole creation. Such a seeming polarity dissolves in the stillness of meditation; in the reflective awareness of Self; in the vital reality of Oneness.
In this compact book Kenneth Verity, poet and student of Advaita philosophy, looks at the essence of its teaching and gives examples of how its principles and spirit have been expressed by poets in the English language.
